In painting, an artist uses color and value to show how light describes nature. In this oil painting workshop, you will learn to understand various lighting phenomena. This gives you more freedom in choosing how you paint the objects you see, rather than having to look to nature for every decision. Still life provides painters the opportunity to set up challenges so we can paint to learn. You’ll start with what you do know and gain skills, by doing exercises that isolate different aspects of painting that will inform your decisions from here on out. This workshop will be fun and informative, with loads of practical take-home principles and individual feedback.
SKILL LEVEL: Appropriate for all levels; true beginners are advised to familiarize themselves with tools and materials, particularly French easels, before the workshop begins.
